Yesterday we posted a profile photo of a Confetti Pride Scone from that sweet little spot called Brew Box on Essex Street.

It wasn’t a great photo. We took it after the Scone had been carried around in a paper bag in the heat for an undetermined period of time, so it looked a little tired after suffering from a little heat fatigue. Blame the photographer, like one clever commenter did when he asked “did you carry that around in your pocket?” Some however, in classic social media fashion chose to attack the business. We don’t blame the commenters. It’s our fault for presenting them with an easy target.

We did block the one nattering nabob who chose to attack those that celebrate Pride with a scatalogical reference. He won’t be missed. Live and let live folks.

The Scone by the way, was delicious. It is #BaldOneApproved. Here are a few photos taken early this morning.

There are a lot of spots in Salem to pick up a quick, tasty bite for breakfast or lunch. Today we feature Brew Box Salem on Essex Street across from Armory Park.

Their menu is laser focused on fresh, simple items, that are prepared quickly for your convenience.

This morning ##TheBaldOne grabbed a house Biscuit with egg, white cheddar, and sausage patty. A nice generous dollop of the house hot sauce was offered, and gratefully accepted. This sweet morning nosh was eaten while sitting on the granite wall at the end of the Axlerod Walkway alongside Peabody Essex Museum.

Brew Box on Essex Street just before the Peabody Essex Museum is a great spot to grab a quick breakfast or lunch. They are truly proficient at getting you in and out without undue delay.

#TheBaldOne stopped in for breakfast yesterday. His first option was a Breakfast Burrito, but alas they were sold out. This turned out to be a fortunate development because only then did he notice the magic words of Sausage Gravy on the menu. Bells rang and whistles blew, as our Bald, hungry adventurer began a short dance of unbridled joy.

Then it was brief walk to the Axelrod Walkway, where he sat on the granite wall with a view of the old Salem Amory Arch at Armory Park, Salem, MA and enjoyed his House Biscuit & Sausage Gravy.

PICK OF THE WEEKEND (4 of 5)

The small but mighty Brew Box makes the cut today. Their story purloined from the website is below.

“Once upon a time in 2012 two girls in their early twenties met while working at a cafe in the heart of Harvard square. They worked together on the management team and it was during that time that they realized they both shared the same dream of opening up their own place some day. Years went by and they found that they worked better together than alone. They began to meet over dinners and plan their dream coffee shop, never really knowing if or when it would become a reality. As time passed, it became clear that it was no longer a dream, it was a real plan. They began searching for locations, knowing that Salem was the ideal spot. It wasn’t long before a 600 sq ft store front became available right in downtown Salem. It was at that moment they knew it was meant to be. Some hard work, a store make-over and many late nights of worrying brought them to that fateful day in May where they would open their doors to the public for the first time. From that day forward they continued to put their hearts and souls into the shop and couldn’t be happier.”

Curbside pickup is quick and easy.

A grab and go breakfast at Brew Box happened this morning.

The house biscuit with egg, cheese, sausage, and a nice dollop of hot sauce travelled with #TheBaldOne to the steps of Old Town Hall in Salem for a sunny nosh on the granite steps overlooking Front Street.

Coffees of various kinds to include cereal milk lattes, teas, and they also do lunch.

Brew Box is a little spot on Essex Street on the right just before the east entrance to the pedestrian mall and the Peabody Essex Museum. There is usually some parking available for a morning coffee and light breakfast run.

This is the house-made biscuit with egg, white cheddar, and bacon. It is very delicious and easy to eat.

The Brew Box, a spot that makes an exceptional Breakfast Burrito is located at 131 Essex Street. It nice to see that they are carrying on the great burrito tradition at this location.

We dropped in at the request of an old ginger SHS and 1974 Schoolboy Super Bowl wide receiver who has been suggesting that we should. Good call #WheresTheHair.

The Breakfast Burrito is not a regular menu item. But, is it an outstanding one. Stuffed with eggs cheese, and sausage it is wrapped tightly and properly making it easy to eat whether at the counter or on the run.

Coffees of all kinds are there for those of you who insist on a personally modified Americano. A solid variety of teas, hot chocolate, and a latte called “cereal milk” are all available. All of the syrups for their various concoctions are made in-house.

Brew Box awaits your visit.
