On this past Saturday #ElderBerry and #TheBaldOne agreed to meet for a 9 A. M. breakfast at Dotty and Ray’s – Salem, MA. It was assumed that #VeryMerryBerry would come along.
As 9:30 arrived our bald and hungry protagonist had a seat at the counter and was drinking a hot, green tea. By 9:40 the clock was ticking loudly, but all was well. The ElderOne had a few important errands to run, so patience was the order of the day. Teas was sipped, messages were checked, and the hustle and bustle of the day was put aside.
On arrival of #ElderBerry it was noted the the VeryMerryOne was absent. Oh well, breakfast for tow will have to do.
It was a Cheeseburger Omelet, as suggested by our server, for the ElderOne. After considering a Pastrami Omelet, the BaldOne chose instead the Southern Grandma Skillet, and after conferring with the server added buttermilk fried chicken. These two orders would make for a considerable and delicious breakfast.
The Cheeseburger Omelet, with ground beef, onions, and American cheese inside is topped with lettuce, tomato, and house-made thousand island dressing. #ElderBerry loved the revelation of pickles on an omelet.
As for the Grandma’s Skillet with fried chicken? Whew! The house sausage gravy is not ground beef, is quite rich, and should be in the conversation of top breakfast gravies in the area. It was a surprise to discover that the chicken breast presented a nice dill undertone. The breading is thinner, but covers the meat well and presents a subtle crisp to the experience.
#ElderBerry again raved the home fries. He really likes that they finish them with a quick dip in the fryer.
On another note. We express our condolences and join the Berry Family on the passing of Niles.
