Here are 5 Salem Summertime Treats for you to plan your schedule…

Here are 5 Salem Summertime Treats for you to plan your schedule around.

1. A #SalemChopSuey Sandwich. Lowe’s may be gone, but the rumor is that there may still be somebody at Salem Willows serving this legendary creation. If not Koto will accommodate you even though it’s not a menu item.

2. Ye Olde Pepper Companie Salem MA hss been serving the rock candy known as Salem Gibralters since 1806. Mrs. Spencer we are quite sure had no idea of the legacy that she left to her son, and then the Pepper and Burkinshaw families.

3. Cole Slaw made by Maitland Mountain Farm from locally grown produce on the Sunday deck at The Lobster Shanty while The Black Hat Project sings about your hat.

4. A little something cold and sweet will hit the spot perfectly on a sultry August night while sitting at the picnic table at Dairy Witch Ice Cream.

5. A cold beverage with lunch while people watching from from Rockafellas Salem patio in Salem’s Historic Town House Square.

Yesterday, was busy day and it included a stop into Ye Olde Pepper Companie Salem MA on Derby Street across from the The House of the Seven Gables.

If you’re visiting Salem, this place should be on your list of stops to check out the hand-made candies, and chocolates. The Blackjacks and Gibralters are hard candies with real history going back to the early 1800s.

Would you like some help planning your tomorrow in Salem? The weather…

Would you like some help planning your tomorrow in Salem? The weather looks promising with clear skies and temps into the higher 70s. Here’s a few suggestions, feel free to make it a full day or just take a couple of the suggestions.

Sleep in for an extra hour or so, you may need some energy later on the day.

Breakfast at Dotty and Ray’s – Salem, MA is always the right thing to do. The dining room catches the morning sun nicely.

After breakfast walk, or drive up to Greenlawn Cemetery. We tag Friends of Greenlawn Cemetery- Salem MA here to give you some ideas of what to look for on your walk. The new pollinator garden is in full and glorious bloom, and the wildlife around the ponds is active and beautiful. A leisurely stroll with a couple of breaks will ease the mind and refresh the soul. Use the interactive map shown in photo 2.

Next head over to Popped Gourmet Popcorn on Pickering Wharf to pick up a nice snack for the next leg.

Your next destination is a 2021 Boat Tour to Misery Island. departure is from Salem Ferry dock at Blaney Street at 1 P. M. with a scheduled return of 3:30 P. M. This “3 Hour Tour” is well worth taking for the boat ride, the history, and of course the mystery of the Misery.

On your return take a break at The Landing at Salem Ferry for refreshments, and to finish your popcorn. Enjoy a little shade and sea breeze under one of the tables with an umbrella.

From The Landing it’s a short walk to Ye Olde Pepper Companie Salem MA on Derby Street. One often unfulfilled requirement on your Salem resume is enjoying a Gibralter, the first candy commercially produced and sold by the settlers. Of course they have many other sweets available too.

Beware that Salsa In The Park at Charlotte Forten Park starts at 5 P. M. You just may get caught up in the beat.

Dinner is next on the clock. The choices are many on Derby Street all the way down to New Derby Street. CASA Tequila SALEM MA. has indoor and outdoor seating, their house Margarita is a rock star, and the menu is complete with Mexican specialties. We suggest that you inquire about the Molcajete shown in the photo, but whatever option you choose is fine with us.

Home should probably be what follows dinner. put your feet up and watch The Olympics.
