Lunch at All Souls Lounge is always an interesting experience. The menu features upscale grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs, a few eclectic starters to include St. Louis style ribs, and a very nice tomato soup. Vegan options are there too, to include the cheese and the dogs.
It was the Specials board that caught the eye of #TheBaldOne early Monday afternoon as he was sipping on a fine lager by Exhibit ‘A’ Brewing Company.
There were a few tables filled on the streetside patio when he walked up. Inside the bar had a couple of seats filled, along with a table or two. This was good as it allowed our HungryHero to occupy his favored counter seat in the front window. If people watching is your thing, the window is your spot.
A gluten-free cup of Butternut Squash Bisque, creamy, with a subtle touch of butter, herbs and some scallion was a good beginning. It was spooned out quickly in spite of an effort to casually and slowly enjoy each scoop.
Chipotle BBQ Ribs with a house Potatoe Salad served as the main. Ribs can be a personal thing for many, thoughts, opinions, and biases in this regard are many. For our BaldGuy, he likes variety in all things food related, and ribs are no exception. These beef Ribs were true fall of the bone style, with a good amount of meat. They were easy to chew, nicely fatted, with a tasty sauce that featured a hint of sweetness balanced with the sharpness of a nice BBQ tang.
What about the Potato Salad? This side was a bit of a surprise. The big pieces of russet were mixed in a fascinating and tasty dressing that initially flummoxed our Hero. He had to ask the question, so he did ask. What is in the dressing? His initial thought was that it was a mixture of mayo and Miracle Whip. That guess was wrong. It was half-sour cream. It worked well, and will be kept in mind the next time potato salad is made at home.
