Last night, as the #HalloweenHordes began to settle down #TheBaldOne decided to wander to the edges of the Sunday chaos.

Antique Table Asado – Salem MA had a few seats available in the dining room and at the bar. Our hungry hero stepped in, grabbed a corner bar seat and settled in for his evening repast. The Asado menu offers many of the Antique Table standards like a daily house-made pasta, but there are also some good Argentinian beef items on the menu.

A very nice Montepulciano Nicodemus “La Murate” of Italy began the meal. This rich red, fruity wine, featuring a nice hint of black pepper paired well with the “Bife de Chorizo,” a thickly cut 20-ounce Sirloin with mashed potatoes. Ordered and served rare, this tender, mildly savory cut of beef served to satisfy the eyes and the appetite. Asado is a recommended stop for the red meat aficionado.

Special mention is made for the mashed potatoes. With a smooth buttery texture, and just enough small unmashed bits to give a home-made touch, and some subtle seasoning. These spuds are worthy of the Sirloin.

Also in the mix was a greatly enjoyed side of the house Fettuccine in marinara. Yes, two starches. Why not? Consider it a carbo load for Mondays walk-a-bout.

Not to be left out was a nice chat with a newer Salem couple about the cause and effect of Salem’s annual infestation of visitors.

#TerribleTee and #TheBaldOne were looking for a meal Sunday Night and after a long discussion on the options, decided that it was time for a long overdue visit to Antique Table Asado – Salem MA. This was a first visit for both of our hungry heroes since change to the Asado concept. Other than the name, most everything remains the same but there are menu changes coming soon we were told.

The Anti-Pasto was was very pleasing to the eye, and portioned well enough for two, or even more depending on the appetites involved. Fresh mozzarella centered the plate with prosciutto, salami, peppers, and artichokes artfully placed around the plate. Three legit House Meatfettuccine with pork and beef served as another starter, with ricotta and a very nice tomato sauce.

Chicken Parmesan with Gnocchi was the entree for our TerribleOne. Flavorwise he liked this plate a lot, but thought that the chicken was pounded too thin. The sauce again scored high points.

Baldy went for the Orechiette with fresh, house fettucini. Sautéed with garlic and spinach in a light tomato sauce, this plate was made great by a generously portioned, and delicious sausage ragu.

This was a good meal.

We did inquire about the little shop at Collins Cove, and learned exactly… nothing.

Let’s sing the begins with “A’ restaurant song for Salem. We’ll provide the lyrics, you can write the music in your head as you scroll and read. Maybe something along the line of “Ob-La-Dee, Ob-La-Da, lunch goes on bra… you get the gist.

Adea’s Mediterranean Kitchen is on lower Lafayette Street. (Did LoLa ever stick as a trademark for this stretch of South Salem). Fresh, vegan friendly, and Kosher supervision by Chabad of the north shore.
American Flatbread Salem serves wood-fired pies, salads, and a few tasty desserts.

Great retro crafted cocktails are stars at All Souls Lounge and their small, vegan friendly menu features an eclectic, rotating selection built around hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches.

The pop-up Almarso World Flavor Kitchen is one you should be asking your favorite spots to bring in for a change of pace.

April’s, salem ma is on the far end of Highland Avenue. Try the Dominican Benedict.

Antique Table has a few intimate dining rooms, and a nice bar are with some window two-tops. drop in ans ask for the house pasta of the day, or take a good at the Specials menu which usually features a steak, or chop.

la, la, la la, lunch goes on.

The Salem Chamber Haunted Happenings Grand Parade is tonight beginning at 6 P. M. Here are the first 6 restaurants along the route where you can stop in for something to drink and eat prior to or after the parade.

Deli House is on a hill overlooking Shetland Park where the parade begins. Gab a sub or a pie, sit in the picnic bench outside to eat, and then watch the them match out of the Shetland.

Just over the bridge is Antique Table. Italian fare and some nice wines to abet your parade experience.

Scratch Kitchen is on the corner of Derby and Congress. Grab a burger first and then run upstairs and watch from one of the upper levels.

The patio at BeerWorks is a great spot. Chowder and a fresh beer goes well with Halloween reveling.

Cilantrois small but offers a birds eye view from a window table. The meatballs are amazing.

A pizza at Brothers Taverna is parade worthy for sure.

Here are a few selections from Antique Table.

First is a Spinach Salad with shrimp. Plated well, lots of color, fresh shrimp, and a lovely lemon dressing.

Then we see the Shrimp Scampi pizza. Baby shrimp, garlic, lemon, olive oil, mozzarella cheese.

Veal Piccata follows. This is a very nice dish with capers and a delicate sauce of lemon and white wine.

Fourth is the Filet Mignon with Lump Crab and asparagus. They do an exceptional job with their specials that often feature beef or or pork.

Be advised that the martini the last photo is properly dirty.

The Adventures of #JoeBek brought them recently to the Antique Table. This new spot, located in a venerable old spot are finding their Salem niche.

A nice looking and very well put together Caprese Salad began the meal.

Ricotta Gnocchi baked with marinara, mozzarella, and basil, and a 10 once Filet Mignon over a bed of asparagus topped with lump crab meat were the entrees.

They were sated, satisfied, and happy.

It is noted here that The Table does a great job with the meats that run on their Daily Specials Menu.
