Antique Table Asado – Salem MA had a few seats available in the dining room and at the bar. Our hungry hero stepped in, grabbed a corner bar seat and settled in for his evening repast. The Asado menu offers many of the Antique Table standards like a daily house-made pasta, but there are also some good Argentinian beef items on the menu.
A very nice Montepulciano Nicodemus “La Murate” of Italy began the meal. This rich red, fruity wine, featuring a nice hint of black pepper paired well with the “Bife de Chorizo,” a thickly cut 20-ounce Sirloin with mashed potatoes. Ordered and served rare, this tender, mildly savory cut of beef served to satisfy the eyes and the appetite. Asado is a recommended stop for the red meat aficionado.
Special mention is made for the mashed potatoes. With a smooth buttery texture, and just enough small unmashed bits to give a home-made touch, and some subtle seasoning. These spuds are worthy of the Sirloin.
Also in the mix was a greatly enjoyed side of the house Fettuccine in marinara. Yes, two starches. Why not? Consider it a carbo load for Mondays walk-a-bout.
Not to be left out was a nice chat with a newer Salem couple about the cause and effect of Salem’s annual infestation of visitors.
