Finally #TheBaldOne returns to Bit Bar Salem. It’s been some time since his last full visit which was at the previous location. We offer no excuse for this unintentional sabbatical.
This location has some true Salem history dating back to when the South River was much wider, and fully navigable to merchant shipping. In 1914 The Great Salem Fire tore through and devastated the area. As the city rebuilt this location hosted multiple businesses including a boat dealership, local taxi company, and of course restaurants.
A Medusa Brewing Company Duchovni Pilsner was sipped slowly as the menus were examined. This is a very good Czech style beer, even when poured from a standard tap.
The Mini Quesadilla with chicken, and the Basic Bit Bar Burger were selected.
The baby Quesadilla was a small revelation. They were not at all what was expected. We are quite sure they are made in-house. Crisp tortilla stuffed with breaded chicken, cheese, pico de gallo and lime crema make these little nuggets a real treat. We highly recommend them to you.
The Basic Burger is two four-ounce smash patties with lettuce, and tomato on a Brioche bun. This one also came with double pepperjack cheese, and bacon by request. The cheese added a hint of a kick. The meat was enough to fill so the bun so there was beef to every bite. The Brioche deserves special mention, this bun has become a standard for burgers these days, but this particular bun stands apart for freshness, softness, and buttery flavor. Whoever supplies their buns, the bar staff was not quite sure, they are on top of the Brioche game.
Our man did not indulge in any arcade games.
