WHERE”S YOUR TACO?
Every once in a while it dawns on us that we have not been paying enough attention to something. With the news that Barrio Portsmouth is coming to Salem this spring in the old Kokeshi space it’s time to start paying more attention to tacos.

Change is a constant in life, and in business. New things come, new places open. Old places close and new spots come in their place. Sometimes newer places don’t make it. The reasons for this can be many, or few.
Barrio Portsmouth, a spot for Tacos, Tequila, and Whiskey is coming to Salem in the old Kokeshi space that sits between lower Lafayette Street and Central Street. They also have a Barrio Haverhill. The space will remain much the same as they plan no major demo work. They are planning on opening some time in May.
We just had a chat with them today, and we wish them the very best here in Salem.
Looks like a road trip to Haverhill is in order very soon.
Restaurants opening to the left of us! Restaurants opening to the right of us! Restaurants opening all around us! It’s an embarrassment of restaurant riches.
Kokeshi will re-open their doors tomorrow at 5 P. M. #TheBaldOne is beginning to wear down. But, he will make every effort to be there.
Kokeshi is getting closer to re-opening their doors. The barricades are in place for the outdoor seating.
Kokeshi is getting closer to once again becoming a fully independent entity. Noodles and sake, and always a good selection of whiskies.
Our stop to visit our man Gustavo as he served grilled and smoked meats outdoors for Kokeshi was well worth the time and effort. You can check out our live video by scrolling down just a wee bit. He is located in the old Salem Laundry triangle parking lot.
He served #TheBaldOne an outstanding sandwich of smoked pork loin and bacon complimented by a a house BBQ sauce that was a little smoky, a little sweet, with just the right amount of heat.
There was also a truly great cole slaw served on the sandwich that is very worthy of comment. Cut long and mixed with a little carrot and cucumber this slaw has a slight sweetness that pairs well with the judicious use of vinegar. It has a certain New Jersey diner flair to it.
