La Delicia is one of two spots on Congress Street for a solid Dominican style meal. During lunch hours you can walk through the buffet line and they’ll make you a nice plate. or you can order from the full menu. When the dinner hour. or “hora de la cena” strikes, it’s wait service at the tables and all orders are from the menu.

#TerribleTee and #TheBaldOne enjoyed lunch there this past Wednesday afternoon. They ordered the Picadera which is basically a party platter of house appetizers to include a solid ring of house fried plantains (plátanos). You could feed a few friends with this platter. or maybe 1.5 Bald Dudes. There was also a quick trip to the buffet line for stewed beef (estofado de ternera), stewed pork(carne de cerdo guisada), Dominican spaghetti (spaguettis), and some crunchy white rice(con con).

Be sure to check La Delicia for your Dominican treats (para tus delicias dominicanas) soon. They are #BaldOneApproved (#Ellosoncalvosunoaprobado).

We lunched today at La Delicia on Congress Street. You may know this spot as Celia’s Restaurant. We are tagging it as Celia’s for context and information. Ownership is new and the name has been changed, but as of yet new signage and a social media presence have not been established.

We? You ask. Yes we. #Dutchman #MomMakesBeans and #TheBaldOne did indeed enjoy a good lunch.

The counter where the food is served has been decreased in size. This means that the selection of items is smaller. But they are still fresh, delicious, and portioned generously. It also means a bigger space for the dining room.

Look at the first two photos. They now serve alcohol with a year round beer & wine license, and a seasonal all-alcohol.

We’ve said it before and we will now say it again. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out.

After yesterday’s post on Celia’s Restaurant we decided that a field trip was in order. So #TheBaldOne, #BringMeTheWhiskey, and #DutchMan took a walk.

The name is now La Delicia Salem. But, and this is key. They have no social media presence. We will be speaking with them on this very soon. In the meantime we will still call them Celia’s so that you know where to find them.

The really good news is that their Home Rule Beer & Wine License has been returned to the City by the State Legislature. We’ll let you know when you can get a cold one at #LaDeliciaSalem.

Change has come to Celia’s Restaurant on Congress Street. A new owner and a new name, La Delicia (The Delight). But no changes have been made to signage, website or social media sites.

We have been getting mixed feedback on this change since it occurred. Some say good things. Same say not so good things.

#Dutchman and #TheBaldOne went yesterday for lunch. It was their third visit since the new owner came in. Both were happy and feel that the while the portions are smaller, that quality has been maintained.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

We’ve been sitting on some news concerning Celia’s Restaurant for some time now.

They have officially begun the process to change hands to a group called La Delicia Restaurant. We have loved patronizing and covering Celia’s, not only as one or our official marketing clients, but also as a place that served simple, delicious food in an authentic home-style
manner.

We thank Joel and his Celia’s team for a job exceptionally well done, and look forward to getting to know the new team.

Here are a few photos of some of Celia’s Greatest Hits.
