The team from Salem Childrens Charity, a certified 501c3, met at Columbus Society Lounge on Thursday night to make some plans for this year’s fundraising efforts. This small under the radar group of locals is #TheBaldOne’s favorite group of do-gooders in Salem. They don’t publicize what they do, they just go out and do it.
After the meeting a couple of pies were ordered for delivery from Mandees Pizza Salem. Slices were enjoyed, conversation ensued, and may have slowly evolved onto a genial, non-corrosive, well intentioned trading of personal insults. That’s what friends do.

Mandees Pizza Salem delivered this large Anchovy Pie to settle a small wager between #BlackHat and #TheBaldOne over the result of the Army Navy Game last week. We only show half the pie, the Army half, because the other half, representing the losing side was eaten by the Aviations Mate, while this half is for the Dog-Faced Soldier.
Last evening brought delivery from Mandees Pizza Salem to the door of #SonOfAnExpletive. One large sausage, mushroom, and onion pie was ordered over the phone.
Here’s how it went.
1. Call was answered promptly, politely, and efficiently.
2. Information was provided with no issues. The call took less than two minutes.
3. A proper tip was payed in advance. Trust your favorite spots.
4. Pie was delivered in just under 30 minutes, still very warm.
5. This excellent pie was eaten in the evening sun, on the back deck, with a mass produced, ice cold, light beer in a silver can.

Last night it was time for #TheBaldOne to make good on a bet for an Anchovy Pizza. Showing full confidence in the ability of Army West Point Athletics and this years Cadets football team. he wagered with Navy veteran #BlackHat that they would beat the Midshipmen of Navy Football. He was quite sure of the result and looked forward to watching the Bosuns Mate pony up for the pie.
Little did our bald pal know that a simple fake punt, the result of a mistaken snap would ruin this Anchovy Pizza dream. When Yogi Berra said “It ain’t over ’til it’s over” he knew what he was talking about. Yogi, by the way, was a Navy guy.
Anchovies seem to be a hard thing to find nowadays. We called two places, one here in Salem that we hadn’t visited in some time, and one in Beverly that we’ve been meaning to try. They had no anchovies. Then we called a spot that we were sure would come through, and Mandees Pizza Salem did just that. They stand today as our Anchovy Heroes.
The pies were delivered quickly and were still hot. We say pies because #MissMartha, accomplice of the Bosuns Mate does not do little salty fishies. A small Sausage & Onion Pie was her choice.

Today, all day, 9 A. M. to 5 P. M. we were busy at the Salem Access Television studio taping interviews with municipal election candidates for Salem Digest. It was a long day.
Some where around noon #TheBaldOne got a bit hungry, and around 1 P. M. it developed into a state of hangry. By then it became quite clear, and greatly disappointing to him, that the SATV crew was not going to feed him. So, he called Mandees Pizza Salem and ordered a couple of pies for the whole crew to share.
These pies hit that proverbial spot.
