You’ll have to bear with us for a moment here. It just may be possible that #BringMeTheWhiskey has gone off of the rails. We hesitate to ever describe anything as “best” here. In our opinion it is not an objective word at all, ever. But when one of our #SalemFoodie operatives just insists, really really insists, we have to acquiesce.
Nathaniel’s Restaurant at the Hawthorne Hotel is the beneficiary of this very effusive praise.
They are trying out a pre fixe menu these days and in the words of Whiskey they “are stepping up their game.”
First up was the Beefsteak Tomato Salad with Pork Belly. To say that giddy delight was the result would be an understatement. It was followed by a Risotto with Brie and Fig. Whiskey described this plate using religious terms and may or may not have referred to a divine being.
The final quote from Whiskey is quite simple and very direct. “Best meal I’ve had in this town in a long time.”
