Todays recommended spot for lunch is Longboards Restaurant & Bar on the southwestern corner of Pickering Wharf, Salem.

It should be warm enough for the patio to be in play so you can bring the pup and take advantage of the Doggie Menu.

Locally themed flatbreads, grilled cheese and lobster sandwiches, a classic Reuben, fresh cold beer, hot and hearty soups, and baked chicken wings and tater tots. Yes you read that correctly, BAKED wings and tots.

You can also take a few steps east and grab some popcorn or ice cream at Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream. If you bring your Longboards receipt you’ll get a 15% discount.

Out the door you go this morning. It’s a little late. But not too late.

Photos 1 & 2 -Start with coffee and something light at Front Street Coffeehouse. Don’t forget to grab a few chocolate covered coffee beans on the way out.

Photo 3 – Take some time at the The Salem Museum located in Old Town Hall Salem. They are building something good there.

Photo 4 – Grab a ride on the Salem Trolley. You can jump off at Pickering Wharf, Salem and hit Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream, or stay onboard and head on down to Salem Willows.

Photo 5, 6 & 7 – Chop Suey Sandwiches at Salem Lowe and then a bag of popcorn from E.W. Hobbs, followed by a walk on the Willows Pier would be nice. Then grab a seat on the trolley again.

Photos 9 & 10 – Kakawa Chocolate House on the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall, next door to the Peabody Essex Museum will have something sweet for you.

Photos 11 & 12 – Walk back to Pickering Wharf, Salem and end your day with a Margarita and a Flatbread at Longboards Restaurant & Bar.

Good Night.

Three meals for a Saturday. That is what we propose to you as you wake up this morning and begin to plan your day.

Breakfast with the #QueenofBostonStreet at Deb’s Diner. The only true diner left in Salem. The Specials Board is always creative and delicious.

Longboards Restaurant & Bar for lunch. The burgers are worth the time. The beers are fresh and cold, and you can run over to Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream when you’re lunch s complete.

Tavel up the road a bit to the Rusty Can for dinner. If BBQ is you thing you HAVE to check this place out. The Roast Beef Sandwich is worth the trip all by itself.

Enjoy. But feel free to deviate from the plan as need be. Its your Saturday.

This seems to be a true Ice Cream weekend. Here are few Salem spots fo a cone or a cup.

The cone in the first photo is a double scoop at E.W. Hobbs at Salem Willows. We believe that are Salems longest continuous scooper of cones.

Then we see a two scoops cup at Melt Ice Cream. This spot makes their own ice cream.

Next up is a mixed triple scoop from Captain Dusty’s Ice Cream on Derby Street. They have a great summer spot on the ed line that the tourists follow to the The House of the Seven Gables.

Maria’s Sweet Somethings on Front Street features Richardson’s Ice Cream and also offers lot of other sweet treats.

Pickering Wharf, Salem is whee you’ll find Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream. They also have frozen slush.

Dairy Witch Ice Cream on Boston Street needs no introduction. We know that you’ve stopped there at least once already this week.

Also at Salem Willows is Dairy Palace. Grab a cone and shoot a game of miniature golf.

If you aren’t working today and tying to decide between a late breakfast or an early lunch, here’s an idea for the day.

Walk downtown for a dog and a soda at Boston Hot Dog Company. Try a side of baked beans and and people watch the “just got off the train” crowd from their counter window.

Then amble down the pedestrian mall to the Peabody Essex Museum for the most excellent and rare collection of Scottish-born photographer John Thomson work.

https://www.pem.org/blog/a-river-runs-through-it

From the PEM a casual stroll to Pickering Wharf, Salem and a stop at Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream for a bottle of water and something easy to snack on will equip you to walk to Derby Wharf Light. If the sun is too much, sit under the shade trees on Central Wharf instead.

Afterwards a seat at the bar of Witch’s Brew Cafe and a cold beer or cocktail will serve you well. The Chicken Tenders would also be a tasty treat with that drink.

End your Friday after the Fourth with a stop at Far From The Tree Cider and try Patch, a strawberry cider made with with basil. If hunger hits, delivery from PIZZA WORLD, located just around the corner should be helpful.

Then it’s time to go home. It will have been a long day.

We’re not to sure what to say about this attractive, not so…

We’re not to sure what to say about this attractive, not so little sandwich creation at Longboards Restaurant & Bar. This is a Backyard Burger topped with a Lobster Slider. It’s quite possible that there is a City of Salem Ordinance forbidding the serving of such a decadent and sinful sandwich. The Puritans would not approve.

If the law does come by while you eat this, just pack u and run over to Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream with your receipt for a 15% discount on popcorn or ice cream.

Rest assured that Cotton Mather would not approve of such a lustful appetite. But he would covet this beautiful burger/slider greatly.

The new menu for the season has been revealed at Longboards Restaurant & Bar.

A “Make Your Own Pizza” offers seven sauces.

We are already hearing tales from #TerryTheMan of the Pretzel Sticks and Reuben Pretzel Stretchers among the appetizer selections.

Tuscan Chicken Pasta and a Surf & Turf Burger with Lobster meat and cheddar cheese have caught our eye.

Sandwiches include a Corned Beef Gyro.

Beer flights, a solid wine list, and Tiki drinks will help keep you cool on a warm summers day.

And of course Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream will still be providing popped, salty, and buttery goodness.

Keep in mind that they have a dog-friendly patio when the weather is right.

Seems like this may be a good afternoon for a visit to Pickering Wharf Marina to enjoy the sun.

The bar pie at Brodies Seaport is a winner. The #BazeSpecial is half pepperoni.

Sea Level Oyster Bar & Kitchen knows how to fry up some clams for you.

A burger at Longboards Restaurant & Bar along with a cold draft beer is never a bad idea.

Finz Seafood and Grill does a Lobster Frittata on the occasional weekend.

Popcorn, ice cream and other sweet and savory stuff at Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream.

Are you ready for some football?

The Saints and Rams kick off at 3:05 P. M. and the Patriots and Chiefs began their game at 6:40 P. M.

Longboards Restaurant & Bar is a good place to watch the game and they are offering 1/2 off flatbreads and some jello shots. We are sure there will be some Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream fixings available too.

You can get the neighborhood feel watching the game at The Tin Whistle and enjoy a bar pie at the same time.

Sidelines Sports Bar & Grill has plenty of TVs, a big bar, and by the looks of things all of the out of work referees are ending bar.

You can watch the game at the Bonchon bar. Or you can order some spicy or soy garlic wings for take-out or delivery. #GetYourBonchonOn.

O’Neills of Salem will have the game on, and also feature live Irish music from 6-9 P. M. They will be hopping fo sure.

Today’s featured lunch was served by the Mattera boys at Longboards Restaurant & Bar on Pickering Wharf.

A Maine Beer Company King Titus Porter began the early afternoon festivities. Named for a silverback Gorilla who was one of Diane Fossey’s Rwandan brood, sales of this delicious and full bodied beer supports the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International.

There was complimentary, and quite spicy popcorn on the bar courtesy of Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream.

Clam Chowder primed the appetite well. This broth is not overly thick, nor is it very thin. It has a medium body to it, with good flavor with a slight brine.

The sandwich is the Rachel meets Reuben. It has a mix of turkey and pastrami showing that two sandwich worlds can co-exist between the same two slices of marble rye.

We are awaiting the new menu here and will share it as soon as we see it.

The New England Patriots have a 1 P. M. date with the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium. Now we all know that the Y-E-T-S, yes the YETS, who have yet to be anything are actually from New Jersey. But we won’t hold that against them… much.

Longboards Restaurant & Bar is our pick to watch the game, sip a cold beer, nibble on a some complimentary Popped Gourmet Popcorn & Ice Cream popcorn, and have a burger or a flatbread.

Longboards Restaurant & Bar. Dominating the southwestern corner of Pickering Wharf.
