#TheBaldOne fIrst visited PZA Gourmet Pizza on Lafayette Street with #ConoceSuComida back when they first opened in late 2018. It was a day for slices of Big Mac Pizza, and PIckle Pizza, backed up by a couple of Roast Beef Sandwiches.
On Tuesday our Bald protagonist, accompanied by #WingMan made a second visit. Why did it take more than four years for this to happen? Well both time and circumstances come onto play here. Our list of spots to visit is long, and there was also the matter of a global pandemic that laughed wickedly at all of our plans and aspirations.
On this visit to the now named PZA Pizza & Grille. they weren’t very busy. Only one other table was occupied, and shortly after they left another table was filled by new arrivals. The space is clean, well-lit with good a good street side view from anywhere in the room.
The menu is similar to the original, with pizza, calzones salads, subs, wraps and other sandwiches, power bowls, fish, burgers, pasta, and all of the expected sides.
The WingedOn opted for the Steak Tip Power Bowl, steak tips, peppers, onions, Israeli Couscous, red & brown rice, bell peppers, red quinoa, carrots, tomato, peas, shallots, arugula, roasted red peppers, sweet potato, while the BaldGuy went for the All American Burger, Mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and American cheese. He didn’t request a temperature as they didn’t ask and he wanted to see how it would be served without a specific request.
#WingMan enjoyed his Power Bowl very much and stated the “It’s a very generous portion of marinated steak tips. #TheBaldOne found the tips a bit sweet, but very tender. The Burger? It was cooked past medium-well. the cheese was nicely melted, and the roughage fresh. The next time he’ll try one medium rare. The pizza was The Vegetarian with peppers, mushroom, onion, olives, and broccoli was a good solid pie with plenty of cheese and toppings. It was cooked just about perfectly with nicely browned edges. Another minute in the over for a little black bubbling would have raised it’s game.
PZA does have a beer & wine license and feature gluten-free pizza options.
