There are four spots in Salem that to our knowledge serve a Chop Suey Sandwich. Koto Asian Fusion doesn’t carry it on the menu, but will make one for you by polite request. Sage’s Fusion Kitchen has been serving one this year. Kiki’s Chinese Food on Boston Street has it on the menu, as does Meilee Express on Canal Street.

We plan on trying all four Chop Suey Sandwiches very soon and rating them for your amusement and education.

Yesterday afternoon we sent #SonOfAnExpletive to Salem Willows on a specific mission. Through no fault of his that mission failed. No worries, we always have a backup plan and it was implemented without delay.

The backup plan was simple. Visit Sage’s Fusion Kitchen to try one of their soon to introduced new menu items, a Lobster Roll.

Made with knuckles, claw, and tail meat from Patriot Seafoods on a thin bed of lettuce with mayo and a touch of lemon juice on a toasted, buttered larger than normal hot dog bun, this beauty hit the spot perfectly. The Lobster Salad for each roll is made to order, so if you like a little less mayo, or maybe a dab of fresh onion they will accommodate your desire.

There was Fried Dough too, yabba-dabba-doo!

We also enjoyed a small tour of Cappy’s next door. This iconic Willows spot will be opening very soon, maybe this week.

Yesterday’s visit to Salem Willows included a stop at Sage’s Fusion Kitchen on the Midway for lunch.

It was a Buffalo Burger with two smashed patties and an order of house-cut Fries that fed #TheBaldOne. The Burger comes on a brioche bun with bacon, house Buffalo sauce, bleu cheese crumbles, and a bit of baby spinach. The spinach is a nice touch. A little leafy, green veggie is always good for you. This is a Burger worth exploring.

The Fries are browned a bit, seasoned nicely,, feature a slight crisp to the bite, with a softness inside. Our hero also sampled the Viet Cucumber Salad and found it to be a cold, refreshing, albeit slightly spicy treat.

Our man #BakerMeister hadn’t checked in for some time. This morning he appeared in our messages with the two photos posted here. He visited the brand new, legendary The Ground Round in Shrewsbury which has risen from the ashes like the Phoenix itself. They had a very successful grand opening.

The Burger in the words of our Baker,” It was a nice burger cooked a perfect medium-rare.” The space he tells us “pays homage to to the Ground Round legacy as well as to Bob Bonin the original owner in Shrewsbury.”

As of yet, the peanuts have not made an appearance.

It was a trip to the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival last Sunday for #WeddingPlanner and her #ArmCandy last weekend. What a great day of music.

Lunch consisted of a Bahn Mi Sandwich and a Brisket Sandwich from Sage’s Fusion Kitchen. The follow up move was a few scoops from E.W. Hobbs.
