This morning #TheBaldOne strode with a purpose over the North Street overpass and into the north fields of Salem for breakfast at Salems Retreat. It was a surprise visit and no angry colonial militia met him at the river.
On arrival he was surprised and pleased to run into #ThePiniGang. This ready to eat and quite pleasant group of local color had just begun their breakfast of Sunny Eggs and Corned Beef Hash, what we believe to be a Peanut Butter & Fluff Waffle, and a nice looking Breakfast Wrap.
For our always wandering fan of a solid breakfast it was a Greek Omelet, dark rye toast, and a side of the house Corned Beef Hash. The omelet, fully stuffed with fresh spinach, tomato, whole Kalamata olives (nice touch), plenty of Feta cheese looked nice and surely hit the late morning appetite well. Props to the kitchen on the home fries, there wasn’t a mushy one on the plate.
Corned Beef Hash oh my. This hash again deserves special mention. The meat and onion are shredded long, with the shreds of onion adding a nice layer of texture. The potatoes are diced into small cubes and also bring a little something into the mix. If corned beef hash is your thing, this is one you need to try.
A variety of hot sauces were offered. #TheBaldOne selected Cholula Green Pepper for the hash, and Cholula Original for the home fries. It’s best to always keep the taste buds engaged on a broad front.
