SWEET BOBA is open at 282 Derby Street. This is the corner spot at Liberty Street that was once a DDs.

They’re still getting organized. But you can get a beverage and something sweet to snack on.

In the restaurant and food service world bad news is often followed by good news. Today we share some good news.

The old Fresh Taste/Bistro 118 spot on Washington Street has been under agreement by a new operator for some time now. The space has been cleaned out and you can probably expect to see some renovation activity there as spring approaches. The new tenant already runs a string of Asian themed restaurants in Massachusetts including a few spots on the north shore.

On Lafayette Street the Stella’s (Strega. Smokin’ Bettys) space is also soon to be occupied again. It is a locally connected group and you can expect a Latino theme there.

Two spaces at 282 Derby Street will soon be filled again with new businesses. Cilantro has sold and will soon be a small, retro jazz themed club called All Souls Lounge. The proprietors are local and very experienced on the local hospitality scene. EDIT: 13 FEB – Cilantro will remain open until Saturday, 27 February.

On the corner of the same 282 Derby Street building, where Dunkins used to be will be a Sweet Boba Tea shop. We had announced this last month.

Pandemic or not. The Salem hospitality world is continuing to spin.

A SWEET BOBA Bubble Tea Shop will be opening up in the old Dunkin’s spot at 282 Derby Street. We do not know the timeline. The FB link we are using is for one of the same franchise in East Boston.

In the same area of interest another prime vacant downtown spot is under agreement by a local and respected chain restaurant. A second downtown spot is looking as if it may be under agreement very soon.
