Here are five spots for a Salem lunch this weekend.

A quick al fresco Scallop Basket at Clam Shack Salem Massachusetts.

Witchside Tavern and a double-patty Smash Burger will satisfy that afternoon appetite.

A quick and easy lunch at Georgia’s Pizza is always a good idea.

Steak Tips at The Tin Whistle will help you to escape the downtown weekend madness.

Ray Adeas on Lafayette Street is truly a hidden gem in town and the French Fries are unequaled in Salem.

As #SonOfAnExpletive wandered the city yesterday evening the need for a quick snack, and a fresh draught beer took hold. Witchside Tavern was nearby so in he went to grab a seat at the bar.

Much to his surprise they now have a Warsteiner premium Dunkel on tap. What’s a Dunkel? “A German-style dunkel, sometimes referred to as a Munchner dunkel, should have an aroma comprised of chocolate roasted malt and bread or biscuit-like features that stem from the use of Munich malt. Despite the malt forward flavor profile, this beer does not offer an overly sweet impression. Rather, you’ll find a mild balance between the distinct character of malt and the refined touch of bitterness from noble hops, indicative of what many beer drinkers expect from German beer styles.” This particular Dunkel featured good flavor, smoothness, and good roasted malt undertones.

House Bruschetta was the snack and it paired nicely with the Dunkel with crunchy bread and a nice mix of juicy tomato, Parmesan cheese, fresh basil and balsamic vinegar.

Witchside has a sweet front street side deck for those who prefer to dine al fresco.

The Smash Burger, two patties, each with cheese, and a nice portion of bacon made for a nice lunch at Witchside Tavern a couple of days back. The Smash style is all the rage nowadays and we are all in for exploring them.

There’s plenty of seating at Witchside both indoors and on the street side deck. If you have a large group of hungry folks, this is a spot that knows how to feed them.

Witchside Tavern was nice enough to serve Sunday Breakfast to #WingMan and #SonOfAnExpletive.

A naked Eggs Florentine with Hollandaise on the side, supplemented by a moderate dose of hot sauce, accompanied by tomato slices also hot sauce accentuated fed the always hungry #WingMan, and his alter ego #HisTapewormsNameIsFred.

The Witchside kitchen gets huge props for being masters of both the soft scramble and the loose scramble. Our SonOfE was very pleased with eggs and sausage links.

The Corned Beef Hash, also bathed in Cholula Hot Sauce was a nice shared dish. You may want to note that this spot has both home fries and hash browns.

Who woulda thunk it? It’s a Saturday morning in October and the #HalloweenHordes are out in force, standing in line for Breakfast on Essex Street and on Washington Street. If only there were some spots a block or three away where the lines would be shorter, or maybe even non-existent.

Well, we know and you know that those places exist. They are not our imagination. Here are three suggested Salem spots for a morning meal this weekend.

Black Cat Diner on Boston Street. Small, but might with a great Sausage Gravy made fresh every day. “Sausage graaaaveee, mmmmmmm.”

We praised the Omelets at Witchside Tavern the other day because they should be praised. If there is a wait here, it should be a much shorter one.

Maria’s Place place on Jefferson Avenue. Mingle with your fellow locals with coffee and a great Breakfast.
